Sticky Presentations bite size article: Slides designed for survey findings' presentation

Slides designed for survey findings' presentation

Feb 29, 2020

A few weeks ago I created a series of slides designed to present findings of a survey. Imagine a scenario where you were given a document containing data from the survey conducted. As usual, there were lots of data collected. The challenge is to decide what to omit and what to include in the short presentation. In this case, the time given for the presentation was 10 minutes.

One of the key technique of bringing number data to life is to mix them with images—photos, illustrations, graphics—just so that the slides are visual and they tell a story.

As the presentation time was limited to 10 minutes, only a subset of the survey findings was worked on and presented. Key data directly related to the employees lunch preferences were used. Extra information was added to show nutritional fact of employee’s top food choices. Real photos and infographic elements associated with the food categories were used together with the data.

The survey includes interviews with employees and so a few quotes were extracted for the presentation slides along with photos (actual photos of employees were used in the original slides) of the employee.

The last slide was kind of interesting as it shows the lunchtime preference of the 1% of employees along side with the overall survey findings. I found this stock image on Unsplash.com and its kind of fits nicely with the data.

Everything here was created on Keynote presentation software, including the infographic elements and adjustment of imported images. You can do the same in PowerPoint too. Most of the background images were obtained free from Unspash.com

Hope this gives you some ideas to design your next presentation slides for presenting data.
