Colour, Contrast, Size
eveloping effective presentation slides can be quite challenging when time is a constrain. This is true when we need to research for images to include in our presentation slides. To save time, we can use colour contrast and differing font styles to create impact on our presentation slides without using any images, but using only text.
As usual, plan and develop content for your slides. Decide on the keywords or key pharse that you need to emphasise. Then use either colours, font size, or font styles to create contrast and increase impact for your slides.
See the following examples.
Example 1. Using a dark coloured background with white text on the foreground, applying larger size font with bold emphasis on a keyword. An even larger font size is used for showing data. To add further contrast, we use a different colour to highlight the number data.
Example 2. Here we position the foreground text in two lines. Still using a dark background, the text is then presented in white colour. Use a thin font style on the first line and a thick bold font style in larger size on the second line.
Example 3. Using two contrasting background colours can make our slide exciting. Using the same principle of differing font size and styles, apply the opposite colours to the text and place them on the two backgrounds.
Example 4. The above technique can also be applied to a vertical format as shown in this example.
